Review – Typophone 4 Lockscreen Mod [Jailbreak]
Typophone 4, a project undertaken by deviantART user Angelman8, is a stunning lockscreen mod available exclusively for iPhone 4 in Cydia and via his deviantART post detailing the theme. The mod is applied via a Winterboard theme, so those familiar with Winterboard shouldn’t have any trouble on how to install and apply the theme. Those unfamiliar can read up here.
As you can see, the theme applies a sort of Zune-like (or Windows Phone 7, even?) effect onto your iPhone 4 lockscreen, displaying the Time and date (time, day, month, year) in a very suave way.
Unfortunately, there are a few things you’ll need to do in order to get this theme to run the way you want it to. For instance, if you’d like to change to AM/PM as opposed to 24hr time, you’ll need to SSH into your iPhone 4 and edit a javascript file. Additionally, you’ll need to delete the lockscreen PNG file that the theme uses if you’d like to have control over setting the background from the phone while on the go (which also requires a respring to see the change). All of the instructions are detailed in his post.
Nothing too staggering of a task, however, as the rewards are plentiful. Although, if you need help figuring left from right with what I’m talking about here, head over to the TiPB Jailbreak and Unlock forums and take a look there. If you don’t find what you’re looking for, throw up a new post to get the discussion started!
