LikeDislikeStupid and a total rip off. Like all of their other products! I’m sticking with ACER, thanks!

LikeDislikeI think the Ipad is a waste of time. $200 more and you can get a great PC laptop and it comes with a lot of things that the Ipad doesn’t.
Ipad is a waste of money. Get an $200 Ipod Touch, or an Ipod and you’d be better off.

LikeDislikeits just a larger expensive itouch and can’t write essays and has pretty cruddy audio. get a cheap netbook, you can play vice city if you get the model with the nvidia gpu and write essays, browse and multitask. don’t get the mac book 13inch, they get viruses and have no protection whatsoever.

LikeDislikeHi AshHelen, it all depends on what you want to do.
First you need to understand that the iPad is not the conventional laptop. It is something between a smartphone and a laptop, has its own operating system (OS).
The iPad is good for watching video, music video, youTube, and so on. It could do a good job with your iphoto collection too. It is still missing features you are use to. the iPad can not do video chat, because it does not have a camera.
The Mac Book 13in is a compact powerhouse. It is a full fetch laptop. It has more RAM, a bigger harddrive, a keyboard, iSight Video camera, WiFi and much more.
For listing to music any iPod will do. But for writing an essay you need to type a lot, a keyboard is a must for you. Also you need to have iWork to help you write your essays.
Conclusion:
Get yourself a MacBook, because you need a laptop to write your essays.
I suggest to wait with purchase of an iPad as it is not a perfect fit for you right now.
AshHelen, if you or your sister really want an iPad, you could try one of the many price winning competitions. I posted a link to this resource below if you’re interested.

LikeDislikeiPad is cheaper, but it’ll only run the apps that Apple specifically approves, like on the iPhone. So far there’s no Microsoft Word for the iPad/iPhone either.
The things I don’t like about iPad:
- it’s not a real laptop, won’t run MacOS, only an improved version of iPhone OS, works better as a device to have in addition to a laptop
- can’t run Flash, so LOTS of websites aren’t going to work properly until they get away from Flash which won’t happen soon
- doesn’t have a full blown Intel processor, won’t be good at doing many things at once
- no webcam, no USB ports, no SD memory slots, no HDMI, etc
- can’t run multiple apps at once, not like on a regular Mac
Long story short, get a Macbook first, it’ll do way more… then consider an iPad.
