   There are special bags available for laptops. If you get one then you don’t have to take laptop out .You can leave iPad in bag , you don’t need to take it out.

   It seems easiest and quickest to remove it from the bag for customs. It could probably stay in the way an iPod or iPhone does, but since it’s new and customs agents might not be familiar with it, for a little while at least, it might be smart to remove it from the bag.
